What does Nvidia stock chart indicate during sell-off?

Nvidia Stock Faces Unrelenting Turmoil

The financial flames are scorching Nvidia’s stock, which has witnessed a 9.8% plunge since its fourth-quarter earnings on February 26. This steep decline has exacerbated its freefall from a mid-January peak, wiping out 24% of its value. Those sky-high charts seem a distant memory now as Nvidia’s stock crashes through the critical 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day moving averages. Whatever bullish sentiment remained, it is teetering on the edge of oblivion.

Analysts like Evercore ISI’s Rich Ross offer whispers of optimism, but even their tone reeks of desperation. Claiming Nvidia is “shaken, not stirred” feels more like a hollow plea than sound reasoning. Despite clinging to the DeepSeek sell-off lows of $114, any breach of this fragile line could spell unmitigated disaster. Ross clings to his Nvidia position, projecting an air of resilience that’s starting to feel comical.

Profit Margins that Fail to Impress the Bears

Nvidia projected gross profit margins between 70.6% to 71% for the next quarter—a figure that, despite looking robust on paper, failed to satisfy the vultures circling its financial carcass. As the company gears up for the production of its next-generation Blackwell chip, inefficiency whispers loom loud. Investors expected more, but “scaling issues” seem to be the corporate euphemism du jour at Nvidia.

Jensen Huang, Nvidia’s founder and CEO, tried to salvage the narrative, touting a “high demand” for Blackwell systems at NVIDIA’s recent earnings call. A teaser for upcoming, more powerful chips intended for a March 17 unveiling attempted to pacify fears. Huang’s sales pitch may have found sympathetic ears among long-term loyalists, but let’s not kid ourselves—patience is wearing thin among burned shareholders.

AI Hype and Investor Anxiety Collide

The techno-buzzword salad surrounding AI and hyperscalers like Amazon might have worked wonders a year ago. But today, those “nation-state infrastructure build-outs” and delayed enterprise budgets sound more like excuses than catalysts. Anjney Midha of a16z tried his best to soothe investor nerves, suggesting underreported priorities might bloom into profits. An optimistic narrative, certainly, but one that has yet to prove its weight in numbers.

Speaking of Numbers, They Don’t Lie!

Nvidia has become a cautionary tale for runaway optimism. Bears are now feasting, and even the most vocal fans like ARK Invest’s Cathie Wood are cautiously hanging on, endorsing the company’s “potential” amidst market chaos. Here’s the harsh truth—Nvidia’s magic aura is cracking, and the glossy AI narrative might not be enough to patch things up.

The fight isn’t over yet, but Nvidia’s stumbles on this rocky path demand sharper scrutiny. The question pulses louder with every tick of the stock chart: Can AI and next-gen systems resurrect Nvidia from this turbulent era, or is this just the beginning of a prolonged descent?
