Change of Hands for NaturPak: A New Era in Food Production

In a significant shift within the food sector, NaturPak, a prominent US manufacturer of bone broths and soups, is transitioning ownership to a new private equity player, PPC, as the previous owner, Trivest, decides to cash out. The financial specifics of this transaction remain undisclosed, leaving the market buzzing with speculation.

Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Wisconsin, NaturPak has evolved from a niche contract manufacturer into a multifaceted platform that produces not only bone broths and soups but also wet pet foods and a variety of related ingredients. The company operates across numerous product formats, boasting significant relationships with some of the largest retailers and consumer brands in the nation.

Chris Trick, an investment partner at PPC, has expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, emphasizing NaturPak’s strategic position in the market and the opportunity to further strengthen its customer relations. Trick points out that this solid foundation will support exciting developments and innovations moving forward.

Under the new ownership structure, CEO Aaron Jackson will continue to lead the company, as he aims to explore both organic growth and potential acquisitions. Jackson is optimistic about the partnership with PPC, viewing it as a pivotal opportunity to amplify NaturPak’s capabilities and innovation.

The acquisition follows Trivest’s initial investment in 2020 when it acquired a minority stake in NaturPak, aiding the company through a considerable transformation. Since then, NaturPak has broadened its offerings and enhanced its operational capabilities significantly.

PPC has signaled its commitment to back NaturPak’s trajectory, focusing on product development and expanding offerings particularly in high-demand areas such as bone broth, pet products, and innovative packaging solutions. This new chapter will further cement NaturPak’s status as a key player in the food industry, as it aligns itself with the advancing trends of health and wellness.

This strategic move adds to PPC’s diverse portfolio, which already includes investments in notable firms like Bardstown Bourbon Company and Sugar Foods, further solidifying its position in the competitive food and beverage landscape.

As NaturPak gears up for this new phase, the anticipation surrounding this transition speaks volumes about the evolving dynamics within the food production sector and the pivotal role of private equity in shaping its future.
