United Trust Bank Fuels SME Expansion with Substantial Funding
In a significant move promising growth for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), United Trust Bank (UTB) Asset Finance has successfully established a £900,000 ($1.18 million) financial arrangement aimed at enhancing a plant hire business’s fleet of scissor lifts. This investment responds to escalating customer demand, enabling the firm to expand its operational capabilities significantly.
The deal was orchestrated by UTB’s proficient business development manager, Kerry Pickering, alongside senior underwriter Rob Irving, who collaborated with an introducing broker well-acquainted with the bank’s previous engagements. Leveraging their existing relationships, they expedited the assessment and finalization of the agreement, ensuring it effectively aligned with the company’s needs.
Highlighting UTB’s broad lending scope, Pickering stated, “UTB is open to diverse proposals, whether they’re concise deals beginning from £50,000 or intricate multi-million pound acquisitions and refinances. Our understanding of the critical role brokers play in fostering successful outcomes—especially for larger, more involved transactions—cannot be overstated.”
In August 2025, UTB Asset Finance had previously extended a separate finance package amounting to £252,000 (about $339,948) for the acquisition of a state-of-the-art Trimble MX60 Pro mobile mapping system, which includes dual spherical and pavement cameras, a rapid scanner, vital software licenses, and essential staff training.
Established in 1955 in England, United Trust Bank specializes in providing development finance tailored to housebuilders in the SME sector. Its trajectory shifted in 2001 when it was acquired by Anglo-Dutch banking entity Insinger de Beaufort, led by deputy chairman Graham Davin and CEO Harley Kagan. A management buy-out in 2004 reestablished the bank’s status as a privately-owned institution.
The commitment of United Trust Bank to support SMEs reflects a strategic approach to fostering growth within this vital segment of the economy, reinforcing its dedication to effectively responding to market demands.
